State Police continue to investigate after a man was killed on Tuesday when a tire came off a car, flew over a barrier and struck his car on Route 128 in Lexington.

State Police said a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Amesbury woman lost a tire on the southbound side of Route 128.

The tire then flew over the barrier and hit a the roof and windshield of a 2009 Toyota Camry on the northbound side.

Police said the man driving the car, Charles Hu, 26 of Lexington, was killed by the tire’s impact.

The woman driving the truck was not injured. 

In addition to hitting Hu’s vehicle, the tire also struck a northbound 2015 Toyota Highlander driver by a 50-year-old Braintree man, who was not injured. 

No charges have been filed, but the investigation to determine whether any charges are warranted is ongoing.
