GILMANTON, N.H. (WHDH) - New Hampshire state police are investigating a serious boating crash that occurred Saturday night.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Crystal Lake in Gilmanton, NH.

According to state police, boats were dispersing following a fireworks show at Crystal Lake Park when the incident occurred.

A 17 foot Key West power boat driven by 62-year-old Nancy Renall was traveling north with four passengers aboard.

Renall’s boat was struck from behind by another power boat, a 19 foot Crestliner operated by 62-year-old Richard Downing of Manchester, CT.

Downing was carrying four passengers when the crash occurred, causing his boat to ramp on top of Renall’s boat. The crash caused extensive damage to both boats and injury to the occupants.

Two of Downing’s passengers were ejected into the water as a result of the crash.

Passengers on Renall’s boat were struck by the hull of the Crestliner.

Passengers were taken to local hospitals for facial trauma and possible internal injuries.

According to police, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at (603) 293 – 2037.
