REVERE, MASS. (WHDH) - Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a passerby found a bone Friday morning on Revere Beach, officials said.
The bone was found near the state police barracks at 220 Revere Beach Boulevard around 11 a.m., according to the department.
The passerby first reported the bone as a body but police said a search of the area did not yield any additional remains.
7News cameras captured the moment detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office loaded the bone into an evidence bag.
Officials are working to determine if the discovery is connected to possible human remains that were found last week at Rumney Marsh.
“Further examination and investigation will be needed to confirm whether it is human,” state police said of the bone.
No additional details were immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
