STURBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - Massachusetts State Police performed two successful recovery operations for lost hikers on Saturday.
The State Police Air Wing, with assistance from State Police patrols and K-9 units, Sturbridge Police, and Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, began a search for an adult and two teens who were hiking on a trail off Stallion Hill Road.
Hours later, the Air Wing helicopter found the hikers and helped units on the ground to their location.
The hikers were transported to an area hospital.
It was the second successful search of the day for State Police. Officials in Princeton received a 9-1-1 call from a hiker in Princeton who said he and his two children had become lost.
State Police, K-9 units, and an Air Wing helicopter responded and found the family less than two hours later.
Officials say the family were in good condition and did not require medical assistance.
