BOURNE, Mass. (WHDH) — An off-duty state trooper has been charged with a single count of OUI after witnesses said he was driving his pickup truck erratically.

State police arrested Robert Gilmore, 38, at about 2 p.m. Monday after locating his gray Toyota Tundra — the vehicle that had been observed driving erratically — at Falmouth Toyota in Bourne.

Following an investigation by state police, Gilmore was charged with a single count of OUI.

Gilmore, a trooper who was assigned to the Middleboro Barracks, had been placed on injured reserve effective Monday, five days after he reported suffering a knee injury while working at the barracks, state police said.

At the time he reported his injury, he was on restricted duty following a previous allegation of a violation of department rules and regulations, according to state police.

Gilmore will be arraigned Tuesday in Falmouth District Court.
