The largest medical marijuana facility in Massachusetts had its grand opening Tuesday.
Patriot Care’s facility in Lowell is the fifth registered medical marijuana dispensary in Massachusetts. CEO Bob Mayerson thanked Lowell’s mayor and city manager for their support. The facility will serve patients in Lowell and Middlesex counties and offer several different strains of marijuana.
"Depending on the condition or the symptoms you’re trying to treat as a patient, we will help you find the right product to meet your need," said Mayerson.
A group of protesters stood outside the building during its grand opening, holding signs and encouraging people to boycott the business.
The company is also set to open locations in Boston and Greenfield later this year.
