GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WHDH) — A beagle in Michigan is recovering after he had a stick removed from up his nose that was stuck there for six months.

Mark Kovicak said his dog, Rex, chased a rabbit into the woods and was acting strange shortly after. Kovicak saw Rex’s nose was bleeding, so he took him to the veterinarian. Rex’s nose was flushed and he was given antibiotics.

Six months later, Kovicak said Rex still had a runny nose and was sneezing. Rex was referred to a new veterinarian, who suspected there may be something stuck up Rex’s nose. A CT scan was performed, where the 5-inch stick was seen lodged deep in his nasal cavity.

Rex underwent surgery to have the stick removed and Kovicak said he is back to his normal self.
