BEVERLY, MASS. (WHDH) - A Beverly teen was thrilled after his stolen bicycle that belonged to his late brother was returned to him Thursday.
Aidan Regan, 13, was heartbroken after his bicycle was stolen from outside his friend’s house on Essex Street. Aidan has a special attachment to the bicycle because it belonged to his older brother Cameron. The 24-year-old gave the bike to Aidan before he died unexpectedly earlier this year.
The family was featured on 7News Wednesday, asking for help in finding the sentimental bike. Police said a viewer getting on the Commuter Rail train at the Beverly Depot stop recognized the bicycle and called police.
Police said the person with the bicycle was unable to bring it on the train because it was the morning commute. The bike was left outside, where the viewer saw it. Police came and picked it up and Aidan recognized it right away at the police station.
“I could tell this was mine it’s orange here where it’s usually black and my dad installed a second brake on it,” said Aidan.
Aidan said he could not believe at first that his beloved bike had been found.
