Snow on the way yet again today, thankfully it’s not a blitz as most of the snow from storm du jour stays to our south. (Our *Special* map details snowfall potential). The snow looks to arrive toward the tail end of the morning commute and remain with us until late afternoon. The snow will be patchy & light in nature so it’s nuisance snow but could be a little slick at times later today. Normally a storm comes through, does its thing then leaves but this one will actually leave a little bit of junk behind overnight & through the day. It’s technically called a NORLUN trof–named after two meteorologists here in New England who discovered this phenomena (NOgueiRa & LUNdstedt) and these trofs are tiny & finicky where they form. As of now plan on a coating-2″ on Cape Ann/NH Seacoast from this trof late today-tomorrow.
As for temps, the little storm (and its trof) will help to briefly scour out the bitter arctic air from yesterday as temps both today & tomorrow reach the 20s…perhaps even low 30s tomorrow. Skiers, you have yourself some great skiing weather the next two days! Get after it! On Thursday, an arctic front will blast into New England with renewed wind & cold. Temps will start in the low 20s and then crash into the teens by evening. Even colder on Friday with morning lows below zero and afternoon highs only near 15.
Temps moderate this weekend as our next storm arrives. As of now it looks like light snow for Sunday. More on that later in the week.
