BOSTON (WHDH) - Prince Harry and Prince William have been embroiled in a royal rift for years, but their relationship has only become more strained since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced they were stepping away from the Royal Family in 2020.

The brothers came together for their grandfather’s funeral last year, and will now be doing the same in the days ahead to honor their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The brothers’ separation was visible as Harry boarded a commercial flight to London while the others flew in private jets.

“I’m sure he will be very much a part of the funeral,” said Nick Bullen, co-founder and editor-in-chief of True Royalty TV. “He’s lost his grandmother and that’s — his grandmother was the one that said in a statement, you know, ‘We will always be a family.’ So I think family will come through.”

“It takes a big moment like this to bring everyone back together,” said Kelly Lynch, editor of the Duchess Diary. “I really hope that both he and his brother William and his father Charles sort of just take this in and remember what’s important and to move forward and heal together.”

Prince Harry is now fifth in line, his son Archie and daughter Lilibet succeed him. Still, the question looms about whether their kids will take the titles they’re now entitled to as grandchildren of a monarch: His Royal Highness Prince Archie of Sussex and Her Royal Highness Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

“Prince Edward didn’t take prince and princess for his children. Obviously, Princess Anne didn’t for her children. But more importantly, Prince Edward didn’t. So it’ll be very interesting to see what Harry and Meghan do over the coming weeks,” Bullen said.

The couple’s decision will become known the first time they refer to their children publicly.
