New research suggests checkout displays could be harmful to your health.

According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the majority of food and beverage items presented at checkout aisles include candy, cookies and sugary drinks.

Researchers say these items are usually difficult for most consumers to resist especially if they have children.

They encourage retailers to rethink their checkout aisles by putting the health of the consumer first.

Researchers suggest non-food stores refrain from displaying junk food items at their cash registers all together.
