Today marks the 7th straight day that the Boston area has recorded measurable rain.  Tomorrow,  Mother’s Day, will make it 8 straight days.  That will tie several years (most recently 2013) for the 8th longest streak on record.  The overall record, by the way, is 13 straight days of measurable precipitation in January 1995.  Another impressive stat…the Boston area has received about TWICE the normal amount of rain for this point in May.  Believe it or not, we are still well below average for meteorological spring as a whole (1.33" below average to be exact).

Enough fun facts.  Here’s what you want to know…it all ends on Sunday!!  The rain that is.  We are expecting very hit or miss showers until about mid afternoon on Saturday.  Most of the showers will be very light, but a few brief heavier showers can’t be ruled out.  Some peeks of sunshine will be possible late.

Showers are very likely on Mother’s Day.  But only for a few hours!!  The best chance for rain will be late morning into early afternoon.  The sun will finally shine late on Sunday and skies will stay generally clear for a few days.  So, my advice…take mom out for a nice dinner rather than a nice brunch and the weather will cooperate.
