Hard to believe that after 110.6″ of snow, Marathon Monday is finally upon us, and for all of those runners that have been in town over the weekend, I hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy our city.  Yes, it’s been on the cool side, but at least we’ll have sunshine continuing on this Sunday.

It’s amazing what an onshore breeze can do this time of year.  Temperatures on Saturday hit 76 in Pepperell, 75 in Fitchburg and 75 in Taunton and only 60 in Boston.  Not only did we just squeak out a 60 in Boston, temperatures fell back to near 50 in the afternoon and stayed there.

Today, all of us are lower than yesterday’s high temperatures as coastal towns stay in the upper 40s to 50 while it’s only in the upper 50s to lower 60s inland.  Heading to Fenway Park and have seats in the sun?  It’s one of those days you’ll need a light jacket and sunscreen.  The UV index is 7 today (high), as that’s independent from air temperature, and that sun this time of year is as strong as it is in late August.

Tomorrow’s Sox game…. yeh, no sunscreen needed, but have a rain coat on standby.  Since it’s an 11:05AM start, I do think we’ll get the game in as I just expect a few sprinkles during the early to middle innings.  A steadier light rain may break out by the 7th inning stretch, but the heaviest rain seems to hold off until after 2:00 or 3:00PM.  Same goes for the Marathon.  A few sprinkles in the late morning hours, followed by some light rain in the early afternoon and steadier rain generally expected after 2PM.  Temps tomorrow reach near 50 late morning and fall back into the mid 40s in the afternoon.

Rain continues tomorrow evening, overnight and even a few showers leftover hang in on Tuesday.  By all said and done, about an inch to an inch and a half is expected.

While I don’t see any big warm-ups next week, I don’t see any washouts either.  Temps generally run a bit cool, in the mid to upper 50s with an occasional passing afternoon shower for the second half of the weekend and even into next weekend as cool air aloft allows enough instability for morning sun to fade to building clouds and that pop-up shower once and a while in the afternoon.

Have a great Sunday and good luck to all you runners tomorrow!
