Some of us (outside of 495) woke up to a coating of snow this morning! I loved the pictures on Twitter from Andover, Worcester, Hubbardston… etc. Once again, thank you for all of the pictures and reports you send to us on Twitter and Facebook! We really appreciate you acting as our "weather window." :c) That snow was really light, and inside of 495 with temps around 40° it was (and is still, at 8am) just drizzle. Patchy drizzle is a possibility through the day, and clouds will stick with us too. Temps will be slow to move, but will eventually top out in the low to mid 40s for most.
You know, the #BostonMarathon is 100 days AWAY!!! So, if you’re training for this amazing event – today is your best day of this weekend to get out for the long run. While it’s cool and damp, it’s really quite calm and clear compared to tomorrow! We’re in for a #SundaySoaker. J.R. blogged about it yesterday – a "Sou’easter" rather than a "Nor’easter"… so no, we’re not talking about snow here.
The rain will hold off until Sunday morning, and will start out fairly light and scattered. It takes until the afternoon for the fire-hose to turn on, and boy does it. The heaviest rain will be between 12pm and 6pm, with 1 to 1.5" for most, with the potential for localized amounts of 2"+! This will NOT be snow, not even kinda. Temps will likely start to climb during the wee hours of tomorrow morning, and make it up into the 50s. In fact, the forecast temps for tomorrow are near record highs. Rain, rain, rain… and WIND.
Wind is the other big headline with this system. A High Wind Watch has been issued for coastal areas as well as all of SE Mass, the Cape and islands for Sunday (see below). Winds will be out of the SE at 20-30mph, with gusts 40-50+. This is strong enough wind to down some tree-limbs and cause isolated power outages. This is the kind of afternoon where I start singing, "Trust the Gorton’s Fisherman…" because we’re all going to want to dress like one. Though, you might want to tie that hat on, if you want to keep it. :c)
Where’s the cold? It’s back with us next week. Now the question is, will we also get the snow with the cold? It doesn’t look likely through this work week, though we could get some showers/wet snow showers late Tuesday. This doesn’t look like much, if anything at all.
Have a great weekend! Find something great to watch on Netflix tomorrow, stay in and stay dry! – Breezy
