FALMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - The Barnstable County District Attorney is investigating an alleged sexual assault on a ferry that traveled into Falmouth Monday evening.

Police cruisers could be seen lining the dock at the Woods Hole ferry terminal around 5 p.m. after reports that a woman locked herself in a bathroom and told her father that she had been sexually assaulted.

Troopers say that man, whose name has not been released, left the area with another person but they were able to catch up with him later and place him under arrest in connection with the alleged incident.

“We are aware an incident happened on board one of our vessels and that the State Police responded to it. We are cooperating with the State Police in their investigation,” the Steamship Authority wrote in a statement.

There has been no word on exactly what happened or what led up to the arrest.
