CHELSEA, MASS. (WHDH) - A suspect accused in connection with a fatal hit-and-run earlier this year in Chelsea was arraigned on Monday.

Jose Daniel Arevalo, 34, is accused of hitting and killing a 26-year-old man back in June. Arevalo then allegedly fled the country.

Prosecutors said surveillance video showed Arevalo’s car at the scene. A broken headlight found on the ground also allegedly matched Arevalo’s car. Police said Arevalo confessed to the hit-and-run, telling a relative he had “been in an accident that ruined everything.”

Arevalo’s attorney Scott Gediman spoke outside court, saying there was no evidence that his client had been in a car crash.
