A man wounded in a confrontation with a police officer in Everett has died according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The incident happened at intersection of Chelsea Street and Broadway.

Police were called to the area on reports of a man harassing pedestrians. 

The man drew a knife and approached the officer who told him multiple times to drop the weapon, according to the D.A.

The officer fired at the suspect, and Thursday night that man was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The officer was not injured in the incident but is now on administrative leave.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Everett Police Department are investigating.
