SHIRLEY, MASS. (WHDH) - Shirley Police are investigating following reports of a suspicious person who approached a runner on Tuesday.
The department said according to the complaint, a man driving a large green van approached a woman who was jogging on Hazen Road. She said the van came driving behind her and she fell into a ditch full of poison ivy. She said the van then drove up, trapping her in the ditch. The driver allegedly asked her if she wanted some water and she said she was so frightened, she ran off as fast as she could.
The van had Massachusetts plates, but the woman only obtained a partial license plate – 930. She described the driver as a man in his 50s or 60s.
The Shirley Police Chief added in a note that the department has not been in touch with the Princeton Police. A woman was killed while out for a run in Princeton in early August.
