NEWTON, MASS. (WHDH) - Officials responded to a wild wreck on the Mass Pike Monday, during evening rush hour.

Sky7 HD was over the scene moments after the crash. A Toyota Rav 4 rested on top of a black car on the Mass Pike. The back bumper of the SUV reached all the way to the sunroof of the sedan.

The crash happened during rush hour on the westbound side in Newton, near exit 15.

State Police say the 27-year-old male driver of the black Acura was speeding and rammed right into the Rav 4—wedging the car under it. This all happened during typical traffic on the Mass Pike.

The impact caused a chain reaction with two more vehicles, hit from behind.

The incident shut down two lanes and caused traffic to be backed up for miles.

A tow truck pulled the SUV off the car, revealing the engine hood was up against the windshield.

State Police say two people were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third person complained of aches and pains.

There were no serious injuries.
