The clock is ticking…the cold is coming. Sound scary enough?
Good, because I’m not going to say this is the “coldest in years” or scream about the “Polar Vortex” (a semi-permanent upper air feature in North America that harbors cold – not an hellacious “storm” many have dubbed it to be) moving east. Truth be told, the cold will seep in, arriving tomorrow night and staying for a good long while. Right now, Saturday looks like the coldest in this particular spell, and there are some signs that the chilliest air may move out by Thanksgiving.
OK, that is a long time from now. And there’s much weather to be decided.
First the front that will change everything. Notice in the picture to the right…there’s not much there. You’d expect there to be sirens going off, or a parade with Jack Frost as the emcee, or maybe even Yukon Cornelius leading the charge of the Polar Vortex into the Northeast.
But alas, no. Just a lil’ band o’ showers without so much as a gusty wind.
But let’s not diss an obviously cold slant in the next 7+ days. A cold that will initially ward off the storms, yet keep us vigilant. Any slight flicker to the jet stream and we could have a storm on our hands. Indeed, the weather models have taunted us over the last few days. In one instance, they show a storm. In the next, there’s nothing. Certainly is cold enough to weigh snowy options too, so keep your eyes and ears close to the forecasts in the coming days.
Enjoy tomorrow.
