Lexington, KY (WHDH) — A pregnant teacher did not expect to be giving birth at the school where she works but that is exactly what happened.

Dad got a knock on his door at work.

He is the Assistant Principal of East Jessamine.

“When they came and said your wife needs you right now,” said Casey Plouffe, “I was like well, I’m sure she’s fine.”

The two were expecting Grace to make her arrival next week.

“I opened the door,” said Plouffe, “and sure enough she was sitting there and she just goes ‘the baby is coming.'”

Mom didn’t realize she had been having contractions and there wasn’t anything stopping Grace’s arrival.

“By the time he got there her, and he came a minute or two later,” said mother Allison Zemba, “her head was already out.”

The trio had a great crew helping them but the shock of it all happening in less than 10 minutes is hard to shake.

But this growing family is just thankful their newest member is okay.

“You don’t really plan for that,” said Plouffe, “but everything worked out well.”
