RIO DE JANEIRO (WHDH) — The United States Women’s Gymnastics Team said they feel prepared as the Olympics begin and their competitions start next week.
The “Fierce Five” includes Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian. Needham native Aly Raisman is the fifth member and the team’s captain. Raisman said the first practice went smoothly and they feel confident.
“We’re so prepared, we’ve been doing these routines every single day,” said Raisman.
Simone Biles, considered one of the best gymnasts in the world, said she is very excited to be competing in Rio with her team.
“It’s very unreal,” said Biles. “Me and Laurie in the room said we’re waiting for someone to wake us up and pinch us. Everyday is just a blessing and we’re so excited to go out there and represent.”
