FRANCESTOWN, N.H. (AP) — The community of Francestown, New Hampshire, is mourning the death of an 18-year-old who was about to join the local fire department.

The Jellison Funeral Home in Peterborough says Cole Wohle died Saturday following a rodeo in Vermont. The Pond Hill Ranch in Castleton says he was riding a horse at the event. Francestown Fire Chief Larry Kullgren says he suffered an unknown medical emergency after that.

Wohle was a recent graduate of ConVal High School and was a member of the fire department’s Explorer Program. His father is a firefighter.

Kullgren said Wohle and his family moved to Francestown from Nevada. His parents own a general store.

A procession from Vermont to the funeral home escorted by fire departments to honor Wohle was scheduled Tuesday afternoon.
