SAUGUS, MASS. (WHDH) -

A teenager died after being pulled from Walden Pond Reservoir Sunday, according to Saugus Police.

According to police, a 911 call came in shortly before 2:00 p.m. reporting a 13-year-old boy was in distress while swimming at the pond, which is located in the Lynn Woods Reservation.

The teenager was swimming with a group of friends, when he reportedly started having trouble swimming.

 Saugus police and fire arrived on scene, and were assisted by the Lynn Police and Fire Departments, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, and the Cambridge Police Dive Team.

Crews immediately began searching the water and areas surrounding the pond. The Saugus Fire Department located the victim around 2:30 p.m. and immediately began resuscitation.

 The victim was taken to Lynn Union Hospital, and later pronounced dead.

Swimming is not allowed in the reservoir.
