A teenage girl said she is scared and shaken up after a man tried to break into her house while she was home alone in Brockton.

Jasmine Brandao, 14, said she was cooking breakfast Wednesday morning when she saw a man walking around outside her house.

“The guy kept going from the kitchen door to the dining room window to the front door,” said Jasmine. Scared, she ducked down next to the kitchen counter and called her parents.

While on the line with one parent, the other called police. Jasmine said she crawled low to the ground upstairs and locked herself in her parents’ bedroom. At that moment, she said the man broke through a glass door at the side of their home. The alarm system went off and police believe that scared him off. Jasmine said fled the scene on a mountain bike.

The suspect remains on the loose. Jasmine picked out his mug shot at the police station and said he was a white bearded man who appeared to be in his 20s. When Jasmine saw him Wednesday, he was wearing gray shorts and a light gray or white t-shirt.

Police believe the suspect is connected to a similar break-in that happened Thursday morning in Brockton.
