A Tennessee couple who first met during World War II will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary next week.

James Chatham first met his future wife, Florence, at a church revival in Los Angeles. Chatham was in the Army Air Corps and said he fell in love with her right away during his 48-hour leave. Over the next three years, Florence and James corresponded through letters, 937 in total.

The couple, who are both 93 years old, are still inseparable. They start each day with a kiss and always put each other’s needs first. Florence said their secret to a long and happy marriage is showing affection and resolving any disagreements by talking things over.

"To me, they are still the perfect couple," said the couple’s daughter, Kathleen Hooge.
