TEWKSBURY, Mass. (WHDH)– A Tewksbury man was arrested at the public library after he was caught using the computer to search for the wrong kind of work.
“Obviously a shock. Not a good thing. We really strive to make the library a safe environment, so knowing something like this was happening was of immediate concern,” said acting library director, Noelle Bloc.
Library staff called police after they were tipped off to a Craigslist ad for “library fun” that was posted on the site’s “casual encounters” section.
It asks “any guys in the Tewksbury area who can spare a few bucks looking for fun? Working all day at the Tewksbury Public Library upstairs in the reference section…Can play in the private bathroom.”
The ad goes on to give a physical description of a man who calls himself the “heavy metal rocker type.” It ends “definitely serious, will be here all day.”
Police responded to the posting, sending an undercover officer to meet their suspect, Michael Crosby, who was sitting upstairs in the reference section.
“Mr. Crosby offered sex for 20 dollars to our detective. Our detective developed a rouse to get him outside and then took him into custody for soliciting sex for a fee,” said Chief Timothy Sheehan of the Tewksbury Police Department.
Police said the library was full of children at the time of the arrest, that’s why they led the suspect closer to the door before taking him into custody.
