Several student athletes in Maryland suffered burns last from a chemical that was sprayed on their gear.
At least four Springbrook High School students suffered the burns when a custodian sprayed their football gear with a cleaning solution not suited for contact with human skin. Their scars are permanent.
"It felt like there were 100,000 hot needles in my skin," said senior Matthew Robinson.
The chemical is used to stop the spread of MRSA and HIV.
"This seems like a case of colossal stupidity," said attorney Bruce Plaxin, who represents four the students injured.
The gear was sprayed because coaches believed one of the players had contracted a staph infection. However, none of the players were ever infected.
