The CW Network is on a tear right now. They just won their first ever Golden Globe award, their hit show The Vampire Diaries is still going strong—as well as its spinoff, The Originals—and Supernatural, their Friday night death-spot show for a few seasons, has crawled through the ratings to cult-classic stardom with an 11th season. Of course, we wouldn’t forget The CW’s baby Arrow, which is going so strong in its third season that it has also sparked a spinoff series, The Flash.

But enough about those shows—let’s talk about iZombie, The CW’s new DC-comic inspired show due to premiere March 17. We know what you’re thinking: “Ugh, not another zombie show.” Pull your bandwagon-head out of your you-know-what and listen up, because we think this show is going to rock. With a Buffy the Vampire Slayer throwback feel, this show is giving us all sorts of reasons to be excited.

The premise of the show is loosely based on the comic book series created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint. The main character is a hot blonde, Olivia “Liv” Moore, who is an über-genius medical resident on the path to success. She attends a party one night where she runs into a mess of zombies, and as a result she herself becomes part-zombie. In order to survive, she works at a coroner’s office and feeds off of the brains of the dead bodies brought in.

But wait! It isn’t all brain chow mein—it’s much more. Once Liv eats the zombie brains … she surprisingly gets the memories of those brains, and she uses this information to help solve crimes. How badass is that? We can only imagine that with the CSI-like entertainment there will be witty commentary and awkward growing pains of living her new life as part-zombie. Adding to this deliciously original drama, one of our all-time favorites, David Anders, is cast as a main character. He’s played memorable characters in The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon a Time, and is mainly known for his sarcastic humor (which is why we love him, of course.)

Still not convinced? The show is being developed by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero of Veronica Mars fame. Can we get a “hell yeah”?
