Did you see any snowflakes this afternoon? If not, you won’t see for for another week (perhaps longer) as winter is taking a vacation! Today’s snow shower activity was tied to a cool front that has a hot date with the north Atlantic later tonight. Fine by me. This front popped a few snow showers and now is moving away–taking the flurries with it. The front is not arctic in nature so temps tonight & tomorrow are seasonal—starting the day in the upper 20s and finishing around 40 by afternoon. Clouds will show up by afternoon but those clouds are tied to a warm front and this front will deliver the goods for Sunday!

That front is also in a hurry so other than a few clouds on Saturday Night-Sunday Morning we have more sunshine for Sunday-Funday and even warmer temps…near 50. The mild air sticks with us for much of next week–the first week of February and what a difference compared to last year! Temps this first week of February reach the 50s, whereas last year temps struggled to reach 30 and we had a monster snowstorm (getting 16" of snow on February 2nd). Not this year, we track a rainstorm for Wednesday of next week and temps soar into the upper 50s—the record in Boston is 59!

No, this is not end of winter but certainly for the next 6-8 days no bitter cold or snow—there are signs that mid February will turn very cold across the northeast…but that is a blog for another night.

Enjoy your weekend!
