I saw my shadow and I knew what it meant right away—I need to lay off the pizza & beer. It also told me that we were in store for another fantastic winter day with plenty of sunshine (as well as light winds & mild temps). What the shadow doesn’t tell us is the weather pattern for the next 6 weeks. Rather, let us us persistence forecasting….what has been happening is likely to continue happen.

Of course, one must look back at the past few weeks…not days..and when we do, we see winter having some serious in-fighting……one week it’s very cold with a blizzard and the next week, temps jump into the 50s/60s. I think moving forward that’s what you can expect….this week (Capt. Obvious) running very warm but next week, it looks to turn sharply colder with the risk of a winter storm focused somewhere next Tuesday. More on that another time…

…..this week it’s about the warmth and we do have a storm heading into this warmth tomorrow! Grab the rain gear tomorrow morning (dry AM commute) as it will be needed by the afternoon. This storm swings a bag of rain into southern New England tomorrow afternoon and night with most towns picking up between .50"-1.00" of rain. Wind will get a little bit fiesty late tomorrow & tomorrow night along the coast with wind gusts between 25-40 mph tomorrow evening—that evening commute will be a real joy. The saving grace is that it will not be a cold storm, rather temps crawl into the low 50s by evening before jumping into the upper 50s late tomorrow evening.

By Thursday, the storm slowly departs which means the clouds are slow to depart but so is the warmth so plan on another warm day with temps running in the low 50s (no rain either). A cool front swings through here early Friday morning keeping temps in the 30s during the day. This cool air will also produce a little light snow on Cape Cod early Friday morning. A coating-2" is possible on the Cape but I’m not expecting any snow off Cape.

Weekend is looking dry & mild both days.
