Police are investigating a theft of pet food at the Animal Rescue League in Bedford, New Hampshire. 

The ARL says a man broke into their food pantry at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning stole 500 pounds of pet food. The food was intended for needy families’ pets. 

A surveillance camera captured the the theft on video. 

ARL workers noticed the food had disappeared when they showed up for work several hours after the theft. 

However, once the public learned of the theft on social media, the office was inundated with donations. The office now has more than 2,000 pounds of food. 

Police are investigating the theft.
