Three suspects were arrested after allegedly leading police on a wild chase from West Bridgewater to Brockton.
Kelly Couite and Zachary Zaino said they were caught between two cars in West Bridgewater and said they could tell the people in both cars were having a disagreement.
"The car in front of us kept looking out the back window and ducking behind the seats as if they were expecting to get shot by the car behind them," said Couite.
Zaino said one of the cars pulled into a gas station at a high rate of speed and the second car followed them. Police said people in the second car pulled out guns and opened fire on the first car. The car and another random car were both hit several times.
The alleged confrontation happened only 100 yards from the West Bridgewater Police Station. Police said an officer quickly chased after the shooters, following them to the Hills Place neighborhood in Brockton.
Police arrested 21-year-old Craig Dubuisson, 19-year-old Kevin Cardoso and 21-year-old Jorge Monteiro. West Bridgewater Police Lt. Victor Flaherty said two guns, clothing and a cellphone were recovered from the area.
Police do not believe any of this was random. More charges could be filed against the people in the second car.
The men appeared in court on Tuesday.
