A state of emergency has been called in Flint, Mich. as toxic levels of lead in the drinking water has been leading to sick kids.

Issues began last year when the city switched their water sources.

Health officials fear that thousands of young children could be permanently harmed due to lead poisoning.

Residents have blamed bacteria infection, rashes and other health issues on the water.

The mayor is asking for federal aid to help fix the problem.
