BOSTON (AP) — The final recounts are being held to settle a close Democratic congressional primary in Massachusetts.
Lori Trahan has added slightly to her lead over Dan Koh after weekend recounts in several communities, including the Merrimack Valley cities of Lawrence and Lowell.
Trahan and Koh were the top two finishers on Sept. 4 among 10 candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for the seat held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, who did not seek re-election.
Trahan led Koh by 122 votes prior to the recount. According to Secretary of State William Galvin’s office, the margin has now increased to 142 votes.
The recount is expected to conclude on Monday.
The Democratic winner will face Republican Rick Green and independent candidate Mike Mullen in November.
