READING, MASS. (WHDH) - A massive tree crashed onto a home in Reading on Wednesday.
The crash knocked out power for several homes in the area.
Country Road was shut down so crews could clean the area.
The 80-foot Red Oak fell on Joan Wetzel’s house, splitting in two.
Wetzel said she heard the tree snap and watched as the massive tree came crashing down around noon.
She had just returned from a bike ride and was in the garage when the tree fell.
Her husband blames the drought for causing the tree to fall.
Crews spent hours working to remove the tree and restore power to the neighborhood.
Wetzel said she is thankful everyone is safe.
