Nomination Story:
Trent Briggs has a sister with Down syndrome and when he was 9, he took steps that resulted in more appropriate language to describe Down syndrome in the Children’s Scholastic dictionary.
This video and his story are now being used to teach acceptance through the Understanding Our Differences program at Newton Public Schools. Trent and his sister, Megan, have been asked to speak in Newton at an assembly for the program. The video will be shown to 900 5th graders each year in that district.
