Donald Trump took the Saturday Night Live stage Saturday, but not without some expected controversy.

More than 100 protestors held signs and chanted outside of the NBC studios in New York City before the Republican presidential candidate took the SNL stage.

Trump’s controversial comments on illegal immigration this past August upset many members of Latino activist groups, prompting them to rally against Trump hosting the show.

The show went on, giving Trump and SNL cast members, particularly Larry David who in one skit played Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, an opportunity to poke fun at what was happening right outside.

Trump participated in several segments throughout last night’s show, including one where he mocked his opinionated live tweeting.
