WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is returning to New Hampshire next month for a campaign rally, aiming to energize his supporters as Democrats battle in the state ahead of its first-in-the-nation primary.

Trump’s campaign announced an event on Aug. 15 in Manchester. It will come amid a planned, week-long presidential vacation at his private golf course in New Jersey.

Trump narrowly lost the state and its four Electoral College votes by less than 1% in the 2016 presidential vote. His success in the state during the Republican primary helped propel him to the GOP nomination.

Trump has sought to insert himself into the Democratic contest to face him next fall, and the visit will allow him an opportunity to attempt to define his would-be rivals in the early primary state.
