BOSTON (WHDH) - Tuesday, December 13 is the perfect day to enjoy a warm cup of cocoa.
To celebrate National Coacoa Day, people are encouraged to snap a photo of their chocolate drinks and post them on social media.
The National Day Calendar describes how hot cocoa is produced:
Through the fermentation, drying, roasting and grinding process of cocoa beans a paste called chocolate liquor is produced. Through another process, the cocoa butter is separated leaving cocoa powder. It is this cocoa powder that we use to make hot cocoa. It has very little fat and calories and is mixed with either hot milk or water.
These ingredients, the Calendar’s website says, are not to be confused with hot chocolate, which is thicker and created from ground chocolate and cocoa butter.
