A battle between two sports reporters is among the highlights of Week 1 in the 7News fantasy football league.

League newcomers Trey Daerr and Alex Corddry face off, with sports knowledge in no short supply. Daerr’s roster, led by first-round pick Antonio Brown, is well balanced, with talent at every position. Daerr will be starting Cowboys QB Tony Romo, as he dropped the Giants’ Eli Manning in favor of the Carolina Panthers Defense.

But Corddry, one of only two ladies in the league, is undeterred. Speedy, explosive receivers such as Randall Cobb and Julian Edelman have a potential to put up big points, and Corddry’s QB, Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers, will offset points scored by Daerr’s first-round pick of Brown. Corddry also boasts three players who will suit up in the first game of the season Thursday night – Roethlisberger, Edelman, and Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski.

Prior to the season’s first slate of games, reigning league champ Pete Bouchard and reporter Dan Hausle pulled off a big trade, with Hausle sending Ravens RB Justin Forsett to Bouchard for QB Peyton Manning and RB Arian Foster. Bouchard had loaded up on QBs early, taking Peyton and superstar Aaron Rodgers. Bouchard’s RBs are bolstered, but his wide receivers are thin, which could spell trouble for his first matchup against reporter Tim Caputo.

In other matches, Hausle takes on Jeremy Reiner; Joe Amorosino faces league commissioner Nicole Oliverio; and Brandon Gunnoe squares off against Kris Anderson.
