BOSTON (WHDH) - Two Dorchester men were arrested Sunday morning for their alleged involvement in an armed carjacking.

According to Boston police, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force saw a man operating a motor scooter without a headlight or helmet on Humboldt Avenue and Waumbeck Street in Roxbury around 1:00 a.m.

Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the man proceeded into Trotter Park and they lost sight of him.

As officers pulled up to the park entrance, they saw two different men running toward them and looking back over their shoulders as they ran.

Officers stopped the men for trespassing in the park after dark, and conducted a pat frisk for their safety.

Police recovered a large black Bowie knife from the first man, who was later identified as 25-year-old Cody Brown of Dorchester.

As police spoke to the two men, they were approached by the man on the scooter whom they had originally followed into the park.

The man on the scooter explained to officers that the two men had carjacked him earlier in the evening. The victim reported while he was asleep in his SUV, the men dragged him out by his shirt and assaulted him. The victim then said the men drove away in his car.

The victim told police he borrowed his friend’s scooter, and was out looking for the two suspects.

Officers recovered the car key to the victim’s car in Brown’s pants pocket.

Police arrested Brown and the other man, 20-year-old Raquawn Givens of Dorchester.

They were both charged with armed carjacking and trespassing. Brown was additionally charged with unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon, and Givens was additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute Class C drugs, after officers recovered a plastic bag containing over 20 Xanac pills from his person.
