BOSTON (WHDH) - Two hospitals in the Bay State have been named the best in the nation according to US News & World Report.

In the magazine’s list of the top 20 hospitals in the country, Massachusetts General Hospital made the cut at No. 3.

According to US News and World Report, MGH ranked fifth nationally in pediatric specialties and 16th in adult specialties. It also ranked highly in patient safety.

MGH reported more than 95,000 emergency room visits in the past year.

Also checking in on the top 20 list was Brigham & Women’s Hospital, which was 13th nationally.

The magazine noted that Brigham & Women’s ranked 12th in adult specialties.

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio ranked just ahead of MGH to take the top two spots on the list, respectively.
