WEST ROXBURY, MA (WHDH) — Two people locked themselves to cars in West Roxbury Monday as they protested a proposed pipeline.

One protester used a bike lock to lock himself to a car tire by the neck.

Fire crews had to use a welder’s torch to cut him free.

The two protesters were arrested.

They are part an ongoing protest against the construction of a gas pipeline.

On Monday, they parked two cars in the construction site and locked themselves to the cars.

Protesters said the pipeline, which is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, isn’t safe.

Spectra, the company building the pipeline, said everything they are doing meets safety regulations.

Protesters said they will continue to fight against the pipeline.
