BOSTON (WHDH) - Two teen boys, a 13- and a 14-year-old, were arrested after an armed robbery during which a scared shop owner locked them inside the store.
As 7NEWS previously reported, the owner said her store on Day Street had recently been the target of a group of teen shoplifters.
She said the teens came to the shop during Friday evening armed, bringing what appeared to be a baseball bat and knife, as well as a machete. To make matters worse, she said her young children were in the building at the same time.
Frustrated and filled with adrenaline, the owner said she was able to lock some of the teens inside part of the store for a while.
“They were trying to push me and tried to get out, and I said ‘no, you’re not going anywhere, you’re staying here,’” the shopkeeper said. “They were trying to (find) the back door, they were talking about the back door, I said ‘you’re not going anywhere, you’re staying here.’ This is it, enough is enough!”
Neighbors sprang into action soon after, rushing to the building to help while calling police.
Officers saw the teens running from the store toward Round Hill Street a short time later and quickly apprehended them. A review of surveillance footage later showed the teens were armed with “a long blade and a baseball bat” according to Boston Police.
The boys face several charges, and will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
