PLYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - Two women got stuck in the mud in Plymouth on Thursday.

Fire crews were called to the scene for the complicated rescue.

About 20 people were out for a nature walk when the incident occurred.

Witnesses said when one woman went off course and ended up stuck in a mudflat, a second woman tried to help, but got stuck so deep she needed emergency help herself.

Firefighters brought out a hovercraft, but with no solid ground and too much mud, they could not use it.

They managed to pull one woman out, but had to use ladders on their trucks to lift the other woman out.

According to witnesses, when one of the women was lifted out she needed to get hosed down because she was coated in mud.

Firefighters said neither woman had injuries and refused treatment.
