A former University of Connecticut student is accused of stealing his professor’s credentials to change his grades and the grades of his classmates.
Police say 18-year-old Omar Faraj, of Mystic, is charged with forgery.
Faraj was a student at UConn’s Avery Point satellite campus when he obtained his chemistry professor’s password to the online grading system.
Police say Faraj used the password to log into the system twice in December and change his own grade and the grades of eight other students.
The changes triggered automatic alerts to the professor’s email account. The professor then notified authorities.
Police traced the IP address to Faraj.
Faraj, who’s been expelled, is free on bond and due March 21 in New London Superior Court.
Online records don’t list a phone number for Faraj.
