Even after the blitz last winter I still dig nor’easters…..just not in the month of June. Holy cow what a storm yesterday….coastal wind gusts between 35-55mph and rainfall tallies across southern New England between 1-2″. We didn’t need the wind but we did need the rain…just not on a weekend. In fact, the past two weekends have featured some heavy rain (both focused on Sunday) totaling ~3.5″ of rain!
Good news—we don’t have a nor’easter heading this way today! Yay. We do have clouds leftover from yesterday’s storm though and those clouds will be slow to break apart not allowing the sun to return in earnest until this afternoon. Even with limited sunshine this afternoon look for temps to return to early summer levels–mid/upper 70s by afternoon. Tuesday offers sunshine for much of the day and a smidge of humidity with temps near 80.
As for the remainder of the weekend and into the upcoming Holiday Weekend–I won’t mince words…it’s an unsettled pattern–a pattern that offers a chance of rain about every 2-4 days. Our next chance of rain will be Wednesday with scattered showers & t-storms with another chance of rain on Friday. As of now, I do think the 4th & Sunday both appear dry with a mix of sun & clouds. The other signature of this pattern will be the lack of heat. I don’t see temps above 85 anywhere in New England the next 7-10 days.
More on the Holiday Weekend during the week.
