Harketh! The rain fell today in many communities. Steady rain, in fact. And now, there are signs that this could be just the beginning.
If you look at the first image on the right, you’ll notice an “L” on the map. That’s an upper-level low pressure system that wasn’t there yesterday, and it upps the odds of a decent, soaking rain (for some) tonight and early tomorrow. My hope is that some of us will come away with at least 1/2″ of rain in this evolving event, giving us our first decent, (semi) widespread rain in months. These things can be fickle, however, so I still think some of us will come away with “rain envy” when this system pulls away tomorrow night.
Chilly northeast winds have kept us in the upper 50s this afternoon, and there’s not much to move us in the warmer direction tomorrow. Setup is the same, and showers will act to suppress the temperatures.
Not all of the day is washed out tomorrow, either. Trends are showing some tapering/drying in the afternoon as our upper-level system moves farther away.
Sun returns – very slowly – on Thursday and especially Friday as the dry air reasserts itself. Weekend will start wet, then finish with sun. Saturday could stay dry for a few hours in the morning as we wait for the showers by late AM and throughout the afternoon.
Either way you slice it, 70s are down and out for the next 7-10 days.
