BOSTON (WHDH) –- The best figure skaters in the country battled it out in Boston all weekend for the chance to represent the U.S. and compete in the Sochi Olympics.

All members of the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating team have been announced, and two men stole the show: Jeremy Abbott and Jason Brown. Abbott is the four-time reigning national champion, along with being an Olympian. Nineteen-year-old Jason Brown skated lights out to selections from Riverdance

After a shocking night at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships it was up in the air who would go. Gracie Gold's position was all but secure, but the other two spots were anyone's guess.

Ashley Wagner has been a heavy favorite but came in fourth Saturday after two falls.

“I’m at a loss for words right now. It's been a really long four years and I've been working really hard and, you know, it wasn't my night last night,” said Wagner, going to the Olympics.

“I don’t think it was a huge surprise that Ashley would be on the Olympic team. She's been so strong internationally the last couple years and she had a bad skate this nationals. There's a lot of tough competition internationally. Can Ashley get on the podium? Most definitely. Can she win? I don't know,” said Tara Lipinski, 7News Olympic analyst.

Also, heading to Sochi, 15-year-old Polina Edmunds.

Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir are heading to Sochi as well. Simon moved to the United States from Moscow when he was 2-years-old and now lives in Sudbury. Marissa lives in Boston and trains at the Skating Club of Boston.

Meryl Davis and Charlie White have already broken a record as the six-time reigning champions in ice dancing and could give the United States the first ever gold in ice dancing.

There's no rest for the champions; the Olympics kick off in less than a month.
